Moyobamba
Capital of the department of San Martin and known as the «City of
Orchids». There are more than 3500 species of orchids around Moyobamba,
about 10% of all orchids known worldwide, including Cattleya rex and
Phragmipedium peruvianum (Phragmipedum kovachii) endemic to the region.
Many orchids can be admired alongside fruit trees and butterflies in the
San Francisco Botanical Garden.
